South Korea isn’t just bubble tea and boy bandsβ€”it’s late-night BBQ feasts, neon-lit alleyways, rooftop parties in Seoul, and spontaneous trips to islands you didn’t know existed.

πŸ‡°πŸ‡· Exchange in South Korea, 2024

🏠 Housing

No link for the place, just got the number of a French dude (which was handy for talking but honestly... it was super expensive and NOT worth it). Paid 800€ (aΓ―e πŸ₯²). If you want my real advice: StayforU is better β€” cheaper, no curfew, and full of exchange students.

πŸš— Getting to Campus

Super well located! Right near the center. Metro line 2 = life. Easy to reach all the fun spots too. ✈️ Travel LifeDid Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jeju, Sokcho, Busan... flights and trips are pretty cheap once you’re here. Absolute must-do.

πŸŽ‰ Social Life

Hongdae and Itaewon = best spots. Parties are wild β€” most clubs are FREE. You basically bar-hop all night. 😎

πŸ“š Classes

Didn’t focus much on school honestly... Seoul was too much fun. Take easy classes if you want to actually live your exchange.

πŸ¦™ Other

In Korea, paperwork is a nightmare β€” Airbnb and unofficial apartments = bad idea for visa stuff.

🏠 Housing

Stayed at StayforU in Hongdae β€” had my own room and bathroom, but shared the kitchen and terrace with a bunch of cool students. Paid around 530€/month. Location was πŸ”₯: fun but calm (magic combo). Only downside: the room looked kinda old but honestly... who cares.

πŸš— Getting to Campus

It was kinda far from my uni, but the metro is so good here it wasn’t a problem.

✈️ Travel Life

Busan, Jeju Island, Incheon, DMZ, Gyeongju... honestly just book and go! Korea is super easy to travel around.

πŸŽ‰ Social Life

Met people super easily thanks to the residence. Everyone’s in party mode β€” plus, Hongdae is a 24/7 party.

πŸ“š Classes

Take simple, fun stuff β€” marketing, econ, Korean culture classes. Mix and match depending on your energy levels. πŸ˜‰

πŸ¦™ Other

Start early with your visa, flights, and housing. Trust me, no last-minute stress.

🏠 Housing

Lived in a shared house at Itaewon (@SimpleSpaces on Insta). Super chill owners, they organized parties and trips too! Paid 650€/month. Loved the vibe β€” safe, lively, and way cooler than being locked alone in a studio.

πŸš— Getting to Campus

It was a bit far (40 min), but honestly in Seoul you’re always commuting. No big deal.

✈️ Travel Life

Jeju = Korean paradise πŸ‡°πŸ‡·. Also hit Japan, Vietnam, Philippines. Flights are cheap if you plan ahead!

πŸŽ‰ Social Life

Living with roommates = instant friends. Itaewon = bars, clubs, late night ramen. Best area for internationals, hands down.

πŸ“š Classes

Marketing Management + Korean language. Fun combo, didn’t kill me, left time to live.

πŸ¦™ Other

Sleep is rare, but worth it. πŸ˜…

🏠 Housing

Found a cozy Airbnb near Seoul Tower (link: here). Paid around 700-750€. Chill residential area, super calm but central β€” close to City Hall and Seoul Station.

πŸš— Getting to Campus

Not bad! 15-20 min walk + metro or bus. Gotta know which buses to take but after a week it’s easy.

✈️ Travel Life

Weekend flights to Japan (300€ round trip!), quick trips to Shanghai... no excuses, just GO.

πŸŽ‰ Social Life

Hongdae was the base for going out. Full of bars, cheap eats, shopping streets, party energy every night.

πŸ“š Classes

Classes were more like refreshers of stuff I already knew. Easy life if you pick the right ones: Operations Management, Economics.

πŸ¦™ Other

Pro tip: find housing above the Han river (nicer areas, easy access to nightlife).

🏠 Housing

Found housing via GoshiPages. Paid 485€/month. Living right in central Seoul, super close to the best touristy spots like Hongdae and Myeongdong.

πŸš— Getting to Campus

About 25 minutes by bus. Not the worst commute, plus you get time to chill with music or coffee.

✈️ Travel Life

Hit Busan, Jeju Island, Tokyo... Korean transport is crazy efficient. Take advantage.

πŸŽ‰ Social Life

Korean nightlife can be a little different β€” bars feel like mini-clubs. Go with friends, don't expect random clubbing chats like in Europe.

πŸ“š Classes

Korean beginner classes = great. Other courses? Kinda hard if you’re looking to chill β€” choose intro classes or get ready to grind.

πŸ¦™ Other

Time zones made talking to landlords hard sometimes πŸ˜…. Also β€” Korean clubs have "other vibes" β€” don’t just go "to dance" lol.
