Teaser: Lima Guide!
Not your dusty brochure. This is what really goes down — rooftop BBQs, jungle getaways, reggaeton nights, and spontaneous trips to Machu Picchu.
🏠 Housing (Preview)
One house had Sunday asados on the rooftop. Another had 15 exchange students living together and zero chance of a quiet night.
We break down where to live, what to avoid, and why Boluma is the real MVP.
“I lived with 18 people in Miraflores. It was a chaos house — in the best way. Felt like I was in a Netflix show.” — Philippine, ESAN
📚 Uni Life
Stack your classes Mon–Wed. Then disappear to the Andes for 4 days. We’ll show you the chillest courses, when to book them, and how to keep max free time without flunking.
“I had 3 absences per course — used every single one to go travel.” — Amandine, USIL
🎉 Going Out
Every week starts with sunset rooftops in Barranco, ends in Casona at 3am, and has a pisco-soaked blackout somewhere in between.
Miraflores for pregame. Barranco for chaos. Your casa for stories.
“We went out 5 times a week. My roommate blacked out in the Amazon once. No notes.” — Maxime, UP
✈️ Travel Tips + Weekend Escapes
Machu Picchu, jungle treks, desert dunes, and beach parties in Máncora. All doable with student budgets — if you know the hacks.
Spoiler: we do.
“Laguna 69 was unreal. We barely slept and almost froze, but 100% worth it.” — Agathe, Universidad del Pacífico
Student Reviews
Exchange in Peru (ESAN)
🇵🇪 Exchange in Peru
🏠 Housing
Stayed at Boluma 1 in Miraflores with 15 other students. Paid around $420/month, private room, shared bathrooms. Super social, rooftop pregames, dinners, weekend escapes planned in the kitchen. Wifi wasn’t perfect, but vibes were elite.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Uber every day, around 25–35 minutes to ESAN depending on traffic. Cost adds up a bit, but we always split with other housemates. Totally worth it for living in the fun zone.
✈️ Travel Life
Backpacked through Bolivia and did the salt flats. Weekend trips to Huacachina and Máncora were super easy from Lima, took night buses and slept through it all.
🎉 Social Life
Casona Wednesdays = religion. But honestly? Our house was the best party. Boluma felt like a mini Erasmus village. Sundays were for rooftops and group hangovers.
📚 Classes
Took 5 classes but only cared about 2. Negotiación was chill. Had a prof who canceled class more often than I did. Fridays = always free for travel.
🦙 Other
Don’t waste time living alone. A shared casa makes the exchange. Also, never walk alone at night, even in Miraflores. And yes, do the Amazon.
🇵🇪 Exchange in Peru
🏠 Housing
Went the Airbnb route for the first month, solo studio in San Isidro for €400. Quiet and safe but… boring. Moved into a shared apartment in Miraflores later with people I met in class. Total game changer.
🚗 Getting to Campus
PUCP is far from everything. I used Uber Pool every day, 30–45 min depending on traffic. Pricey but worth it for the location trade-off.
✈️ Travel Life
Took every opportunity to bounce, Huaraz hikes, jungle trip in Iquitos, and even Ecuador for a long weekend. Used Western Union to save on cash exchanges.
🎉 Social Life
Casona Wednesdays, rooftop asados, and Barranco nights. But some of the best moments were random hangouts after class. Our Miraflores crew became a family.
📚 Classes
Mostly in English. Political Science and Strategy were solid picks. Tip: check reviews from past students, some teachers are super chill, others love pop quizzes.
🦙 Other
Start solo if you want, but find a crew fast. Lima isn’t easy alone. The second you live with others, everything changes — from travel to parties to friendships.
