Teaser: Hong Kong Guide!
Not your average exchange semester — this is dumplings at 3AM, dorm hangouts, and rooftop chaos in the best possible way.
🏠 Housing (Preview)
Want to live 3 minutes from class, 5 from the food court, and 30 from the craziest night of your life? The dorms here are the real MVPs — cheap, social, and perfectly placed for maximum fun (and minimum stress).
We break down the best picks per campus, what to bring (hint: your own bedsheets), and what housing scams to avoid.
“JCV IV was wild. One week in and I had friends from 10 countries.” — Guillaume, HKU
“Forget Airbnb — dorms are where the memories happen.” — Eleanor, HKBU
📚 Uni Life
5 top universities. Dozens of courses. Some are “sleep in and pass,” others… not so much.
We tell you:
Which unis are social vs. serious
What classes get you long weekends
And which ones come with zero exams and all the travel freedom
“I stacked all my classes on Mon-Tue. Left me 5-day weekends — best decision ever.” — Titouan, CUHK
🎉 Going Out
Rooftop cocktails, LKF street parties, €10 open bars, and yes — dumpling night predrinks are a thing.
This city goes hard in the weirdest, most fun ways. Whether you’re into techno, 7-Eleven hangs, or bar hopping through Mong Kok — we mapped it all.
“Mr. Wong’s, then Lan Kwai Fong. That’s the move.” — Chiara, HKBU
“Pre at 7-Eleven. Post at Carnegies. No exceptions.” — Thomas, HKUST
✈️ Travel Tips + Weekend Escapes
Hong Kong is your launchpad. Macau? Ferry. Thailand? €100 flight. Shenzhen? Metro.
We’ll show you:
Where to go for 2 days or 2 weeks
What not to miss (hello, Philippines)
And why Wednesday lectures are the enemy of travel
“Night ferry to Macau, back by brunch. Pure chaos — would do again.” — Maïna, CUHK
Student Reviews
Polytechnic University
🇭🇰 Exchange in Hong Kong
🏠 Housing
Stayed in the university residence — super cheap compared to private rentals (only about €225/month) and honestly the best way to meet other exchange students. Résidence right next to the uni is definitely the best solution.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Walked everywhere, campus was just next door. Got the Octopus student card — it’s free and you pay metros and buses half price. So smooth.
✈️ Travel Life
Took trips to Bali, Vietnam, Tokyo, and even Mainland China. Flights in Asia are crazy cheap if you plan early.
🎉 Social Life
Temple Street for cheap food and beers, Carnegies on Wednesdays after Happy Valley horse races, and LKF for clubbing. Always something happening!
📚 Classes
Changed my classes once I arrived to fix my schedule the way I wanted. Easy and super flexible once you’re on site.

Top tip: Get that Octopus student card day one. Saves your life and your wallet.
🇭🇰 Exchange in Hong Kong
🏠 Housing
Stayed in university housing, perfect location, included a canteen, and cost only €1600 for the entire semester! Downsides? Room was tiny (12m² for 2 people), but you’re never inside anyway.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Campus in Kowloon, about 15 minutes to the nearest metro by foot. Then easy metro rides everywhere. Hong Kong’s transport system is a joke (in the best way), so fast and cheap.
✈️ Travel Life
Travelled around: Palawan Island in the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Thailand… Easy flights, unforgettable trips.
🎉 Social Life
Best spots: Sai Wan Beach, Happy Valley Racecourse, and of course, the classic Lan Kwai Fong parties.
📚 Classes
Fintech and Banking courses were 🔥 thanks to great profs. Worth the hustle.
🦙 Other
City is safe everywhere, so just live it up and explore every corner.
