ππ° Exchange in Hong Kong Fall 2023
π Housing
Stayed in the university residence β super cheap compared to private rentals (only about β¬225/month) and honestly the best way to meet other exchange students. RΓ©sidence right next to the uni is definitely the best solution.
π Getting to Campus
Walked everywhere, campus was just next door. Got the Octopus student card β itβs free and you pay metros and buses half price. So smooth.
βοΈ Travel Life
Took trips to Bali, Vietnam, Tokyo, and even Mainland China. Flights in Asia are crazy cheap if you plan early.
π Social Life
Temple Street for cheap food and beers, Carnegies on Wednesdays after Happy Valley horse races, and LKF for clubbing. Always something happening!
π Classes
Changed my classes once I arrived to fix my schedule the way I wanted. Easy and super flexible once youβre on site.

Top tip: Get that Octopus student card day one. Saves your life and your wallet.

π Housing
Lived on campus. 100% the move. Social life is way better there, you save a lot of money, and you can eat at the university restaurants for super cheap. Plus, youβre in the middle of nature β vibes are amazing.
π Getting to Campus
Already living on campus = no commute. But when going downtown, itβs 20β50 min by direct metro line.
βοΈ Travel Life
Everywhere in Asia! Taiwan, Japan, Vietnamβ¦ Flights are dirt cheap and itβs so easy to move around.
π Social Life
Best destination ever for an exchange. Campus life made it so easy to meet people and the vibes were incredible.
π Classes
Didnβt mention specific classes, but clearly the focus was more on living than studying. #Respect

One Dim Sum restaurant = must try. Seriously, donβt miss it.

ππ° Exchange in Hong Kong Fall 2024
π Housing
Stayed in university housing β perfect location, included a canteen, and cost only β¬1600 for the entire semester! Downsides? Room was tiny (12mΒ² for 2 people), but youβre never inside anyway.
π Getting to Campus
Campus in Kowloon β about 15 minutes to the nearest metro by foot. Then easy metro rides everywhere. Hong Kongβs transport system is a joke (in the best way) β so fast and cheap.
βοΈ Travel Life
Travelled around: Palawan Island in the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Thailand⦠Easy flights, unforgettable trips.
π Social Life
Best spots: Sai Wan Beach, Happy Valley Racecourse, and of course, the classic Lan Kwai Fong parties.
π Classes
Fintech and Banking courses were π₯ thanks to great profs. Worth the hustle.

City is safe everywhere, so just live it up and explore every corner.

HKUST
ππ° Exchange in Hong Kong, Spring 2024
π Housing
Lived in student dorms on campus. Paid about β¬350 for the whole semester. Super convenient for going to class and insane facilities: stadiums, pools, gyms... Restaurants on campus were cheap too.
π Getting to Campus
Buses inside campus take you straight to the nearest metro station. HKβs public transport is crazy efficient, but getting home after midnight = night bus or taxi.
βοΈ Travel Life
Couldnβt travel a lot because of quarantine rules back then, but Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam were the top plans.
π Social Life
Living on campus = meeting other exchange students super easily. The school even matches you with other exchange roommates!
π Classes
Super fluid semester. Just donβt bother with the Cantonese course β itβs way too hard.
π¦ Other
Campus is far from downtown, but honestly? Totally worth it for the social life and facilities.

π Housing
Stayed on campus. 1000% recommend. Hong Kong is insanely expensive for housing so campus dorms were the smart play β around β¬400/month. Plus, youβre literally living with all your friends. Best vibes.
π Getting to Campus
10 minutes walk to the train station, buses passing every 5-10 min. Uber late at night after parties, no stress. Super safe everywhere.
βοΈ Travel Life
Weekend trips to Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, and China were the norm. Flights are cheap, and living costs are even cheaper once youβre out of Hong Kong.
π Social Life
LKF is THE spot. Biggest clubs, best bars, insane energy. Met people every time we went out.
π Classes
Stacked all my classes on Monday and Tuesday = 5-day weekends for traveling. Avoided finance and math classes. Took economy, marketing, entrepreneurship instead β way lighter and more fun.
π¦ Other
Donβt overthink it β just go out, meet people, travel everywhere. This city is a movie.
