Teaser: Buenos Aires Guide!
This ain’t your uni's exchange PDF. It’s where rooftop BBQs meet street tango, and 2AM steak is just the warm-up.
🏠 Housing (Preview)
You’re not just finding a bed, you’re picking your whole vibe.
Palermo is the only answer. Safe, social, student-packed.
Ignacio’s casas? Think private rooms, rooftops, 15 roommates, and weekly asados.
We’ll tell you where to live, who to text, and what to avoid (like paying €800 for a solo Airbnb with no friends).

Student Reviews
Universidad Austral
🇦🇷 Exchange in Buenos Aires
🏠 Housing
I stayed in Casa Guatemala (also called Maison Abbey), one of Ignacio’s legendary casas in Palermo. We were 18 in the house, each with a private room, sharing the rooftop, big kitchen, and common zones. It was less “housing” and more like a student community. BBQs, pre-drinks, spontaneous asados… it was the hearth of my whole exchange. Location? Prime Palermo. Safe, lively, everything within 5–10 min walk. Pay around ~430 USD/month. Zero regrets. Best setup in BA if you want to actually live, not just sleep.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Austral is ~35–40 min away from Palermo.
Uber’s cheap (split with housemates), buses are easy once you get your SUBE card. Everyone does the commute because living in San Telmo is bad.
✈️ Travel Life
Exchange = your base to explore all of South America. I did: Salta, Mendoza, Patagonia, Iguazú. Then Rio, Cusco, Cartagena, and Santiago Hack: stack classes early in the week and book trips Thurs–Sun. And use Western Union to double your travel budget.
🎉 Social Life
Living with 18 other internationals = instant crew. Palermo is the student hub with bars every block, and most casas pregame before clubbing. Most wild nights started on the rooftop, ended at Makena or Bresh, and were forgotten by brunch.
📚 Classes
Austral was super manageable. Most courses felt like first-year refreshers. I stacked everything Mon/Tue = 5-day weekends. Take some in Spanish for fun, but don’t worry, profs are used to exchange students.

Biggest tip: Don’t trust just the pics. Ask real students. I found Ignacio through alumni, and it made all the difference. And always Uber at night. Safety first, even in Palermo.
🇦🇷 Exchange in Buenos Aires
🏠 Housing
I stayed at one of Ignacio’s casas. Can’t remember if it was Abbey or Colonial but whatever, it was SO good. Big house, every room had a private bathroom, big rooftop, chill zone. Only downside: zero sound isolation lol. If you can, pick a room far from the entrance and street. I paid 400 USD/month.
🚗 Getting to Campus
About 40 minutes by bus from Palermo to UADE. Totally manageable. Just podcast it out.
✈️ Travel Life
Did all the classics: Patagonia, Salta, Mendoza. My tip? Book your trips from the first week or it’ll never happen.
🎉 Social Life
Top tier. The house was always buzzing. We partied, cooked, did random midnight karaoke — exchange magic.
📚 Classes
No stress. Everything went smooth. Just be smart with your planning and register early.

If you’re eyeing Ignacio’s casas, book 3-4 months in advance. They go FAST.
