🏠 Housing
I was in a student residence called Parc Cité. Contracts are for 1 year but I picked it up from someone who left early. Watch out for the €100 transfer fee tho. The place is comfy and full of students from everywhere, but don’t expect parties – there are no events. You’ve got your own room, shared kitchen, and it’s clean. Good if you want peace and your own space. I paid around €800/month, but you can find cheaper in colocs.
🚗 Getting to Campus
I walked mostly – it’s about 25 min to Concordia, or 10 min by metro. The location was honestly amazing. Grocery store right across the street, 15 min from the Plateau, 10 min to downtown. Solid.
✈️ Travel Life
Did soooo many things. Dog sledding at Ranch Robert (10/10), Ski trips to Mont Tremblant, Quebec City for ice fest + clubbing, even Miami & New York on Flixbus. My dream trip was Banff, but it was closed in winter 😭
🎉 Social Life
The res was kinda dead socially, ngl. People kept to themselves. Only place to talk was the kitchen. I did meet an English guy and a French dude tho – super nice. For going out: Crescent St + Saint Laurent = bar central, and La Banquise = best poutine.
📚 Classes
Chill overall. Only 4 classes (3h each), no attendance, lots of online quizzes. I liked COMM211 and COMM225 – easy and interesting. Stack your courses to have long weekends to travel.
🦙 Other
Winter’s no joke – dry and freezing. Grocery prices are high, but you can eat pasta and bagels on repeat and survive 😂 Also: Potato Club at Concordia = free food if you're broke and not picky.

🏠 Housing
Lived in La Marq, just off Sainte Catherine street. Only 9 min walk to McGill. I 100% recommend it – super clean, secure, with a gym, cinema, study room, and big apartments. You can choose your roomies too. The vibe was on point. The Plateau is cool too but metro rides to campus = meh.
🚗 Getting to Campus
I literally walked everywhere. McGill is in the middle of EVERYTHING. You can get anywhere on foot or bike. Metro’s there too, but who needs it?
✈️ Travel Life
Did all the classics: Boston, NY, Banff, Vermont, Toronto, Niagara, even Punta Cana 😎 Take the bus to Quebec City – it’s cheap, and McGill gets you 50% off on car rentals. BIG win.
🎉 Social Life
Nightlife’s great if you go looking: • Saint-Laurent = party all night • Crescent = pubs & chill bars Festivals: Igloofest (partied while working there, was insane) & Picnik Electronik are MUSTS. McGill = city inside the city, always something going on.
📚 Classes
Super chill. I was in marketing, barely any stress. Group projects were kinda meh but manageable. Evening and Saturday classes let you live your best life during the week. No one takes attendance so… 👀
🦙 Other
If you hate snow – don't come. It’s FREEZING. But summer slaps. Life is slightly more expensive than France, but taxes/tips are what hurt most. You’ll get used to it.

🏠 Housing
I lived in Palay with 3 roomies. It was cool – great location (5–10 min walk to McGill) with gym and cinema, but it’s getting super pricey ($1100/month). Main issue: terrible soundproofing. You’ll hear everything from the living room while trying to sleep.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Couldn’t be closer. Walked everywhere. Living in downtown = big W.
✈️ Travel Life
NYC, Toronto, Niagara, plus weekends in chalet with hot tub & firewood – DO NOT MISS THAT. So much nature to explore, all bus accessible.
🎉 Social Life
Honestly? Not that much going on. Mostly hung with IESEG peeps or other French students. No huge scene unless you go make it happen.
📚 Classes
Only 5 courses. Not that hard, not that exciting either. Not a ton of work outside of exams. I went to class pretty often, but you can easily slack off if you want.
🦙 Other
BIXI bikes = game changer in spring. Food-wise, hit up Super C Atateken and PA for cheap groceries.

🏠 Housing
Stayed at Palay, in a 4-person coloc. I’d recommend it. Location = central af, price = $1029/month, includes gym & laundry. Solid choice overall.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Walked everywhere. Being in downtown makes life sooo easy.
✈️ Travel Life
If you’re not doing a weekend in the Rockies, what are you even doing? Also: Quebec City, Toronto, NYC – all super accessible by bus.
🎉 Social Life
The Plateau = bar central, especially for Frenchies. Igloofest = must do.
📚 Classes
Way more work than I expected tbh. Some classes were hard, and there's a lot of solo studying. Less chill than my business school.
🦙 Other
Cost of living = like Paris. Not cheap, but manageable. Weather? Totally random. One day freezing, next day heatwave 🥶🔥

🏠 Housing
I stayed at The Marq – The 515, right on Sainte Catherine, super central. Gym, cinema room, the whole deal. BUT… my unit wasn’t renovated, so kinda meh. Still, newer units look nice now. Paid around $1070 CAD/month (~720€) for a 4-person flat.
🚗 Getting to Campus
15 min walk or metro to Concordia. Easy peasy. Right next to the Eaton Centre and all the shops too.
✈️ Travel Life
Do Banff (book ahead), or rent a chalet in the countryside. Major vibes. Quebec City, Toronto, NY – all good weekend escapes.
🎉 Social Life
Igloofest and Picnik Electronik are MUSTS. Favorite spots = Le Clebard, Tommy Café, and honestly just walking around the city with music on.
📚 Classes
Avoid COMM220 – sooo much work. IBUS courses are more chill, and better for traveling. Presence isn’t mandatory either – go to class or don’t, your call.
🦙 Other
Montreal is expensive, so budget smart. Being central was totally worth the money tho. And again – bring a real winter coat, not that Paris fall jacket.
