🏠 Housing
I stayed at Playhouse Quito and LOVED it. Safe, well located, and sooo easy to meet people. It’s in La Floresta, which is chill, artistic, and super nice to live in. You can walk to bars, cafés, even the club “Casino” is 5 mins away. Paid around €347/month.
🚗 Getting to Campus
USFQ is 30 mins away (walking + bus). Not the closest, but 100% worth it for the neighborhood and vibes.
✈️ Travel Life
Did the full tour: Ecuador’s coast (Montañita = surf + parties), the Amazon, Galápagos, and even popped over to Chile and Colombia. Just pack a second phone — theft happens.
🎉 Social Life
Playhouse made it SO easy. Group dinners, spontaneous parties, and people always down to explore. Loved Cafe Mosaico for sunset apéros. Also, go to “La Bitch” club when reggaeton gets too much.
📚 Classes
Easy if you choose right. I loved “Principios de Publicidad” with Anabella Vargas — super chill and interesting.
🦙 Other
Be careful with your phone. Almost all my friends got theirs stolen (I was lucky). Always Uber, never flag a random taxi. And don’t go to Guayaquil — it’s sketchy.

🏠 Housing
Found an Airbnb — huge space, great location downtown. Not the closest to UIDE though, but I didn’t mind. If you want both vibe and location? Go with Playhouse, it’s in the best part of Quito.
🚗 Getting to Campus
It took about 30 mins by car or an hour by bus. The uni is deep in the mountains — pretty crazy location actually.
✈️ Travel Life
Did Amazon, Galápagos, Baños, and Mindo. Solid mix of nature, parties, and chill. Ecuador has everything if you’re down to explore.
🎉 Social Life
The Bee = best club for exchange students. Also loved hanging in La Carolina park — always some cool random meetups going on.
📚 Classes
No big stress. I picked chill stuff like cooking and marketing. Easy to manage and still had time to travel.
🦙 Other
Ecuador’s not super touristy which is nice, but yeah — be smart about safety. Stick to Ubers and don’t flash your phone in the street.

🏠 Housing
Lived at St Gallen Haus — about €420/month. Not the flashiest, but solid. My room was big and had a private bathroom, shared kitchen and common spaces. It’s in the center, so good location.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Took the school bus. It’s about an hour, which sounds long but honestly… kinda becomes part of the routine. Uni is in the mountains so you’re not living next door unless you're in Cumbayá.
✈️ Travel Life
We went big — Machu Picchu trek in Peru, volcano hikes, Amazon, the works. The coast wasn’t great though — skip Guayaquil.
🎉 Social Life
So many clubs, so many vibes. Quito has variety — but also go out with groups. Safer + more fun. Best part: most places are cheap and full of locals and internationals.
📚 Classes
Pretty easygoing if you manage your schedule well. Pick English classes if your Spanish sucks, and def try a cooking course.
🦙 Other
Cold water and random electricity cuts = Ecuador classic. Bring patience and maybe a hoodie for those cold showers 😂

🏠 Housing
I stayed in an Airbnb with a friend, around $400 each. It was super secure and honestly, we felt great there. Best part? Right by Parque La Carolina — the best area if you wanna be close to everything in Quito center. Restaurants, bars, even a gym and beauty spots just downstairs.
🚗 Getting to Campus
The school bus stopped literally next to our place, soooo easy. Uber also works great if you’re late — it’s super cheap.
✈️ Travel Life
Did sooo many trips inside Ecuador. Mindo = jungle party on a budget. Baños = waterfalls + wild swings. Volcano hikes like Cotopaxi are insane (check AllTrails!). Colombia/Peru = amazing but more $$$.
🎉 Social Life
Quito center isn’t wild for parties, BUT Cumbayá? Whole other level. Hit Katari, Shot Me or The Brown. Thursday nights are 🔥 (free entry too). You’ll drink, dance, laugh… all for $15.
📚 Classes
Campus is lost in the mountains, so it feels like a nature retreat 😂. Chill vibes, lots of group projects though. Super flexible profs if you wanna travel, just warn them in advance. Absences are counted but manageable.
🦙 Other
Quito is high AF — 2800m. So yeah, walking up stairs will destroy your lungs. Oh, and nights end early — don’t be surprised if the club shuts at 2:30am.

Stayed in a super secured Airbnb near La Carolina with a friend. $400/month each and had everything around — bars, sports, beauty salons, even a bus straight to campus. But if you’re coming solo, Playhouse is THE move — no way you’ll feel lonely there.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Bus stop was next door. Super easy. Otherwise, Uber is cheap as hell. Don’t even think twice about it.
✈️ Travel Life
All over Ecuador. Mindo = nature + party. Baños = waterfalls + hot tubs. Quilotoa and Cotopaxi = unforgettable hikes. Avoid the coast — not as nice as it sounds.
🎉 Social Life
Thursdays? Cumbayá. Every time. Entry is free and $15 gets you drinks + vibes for the night. Go with people tho — safer + funnier.
📚 Classes
Campus is GORGEOUS — you feel like you’re at a jungle retreat. Loads of group work but nothing too crazy. Just don’t skip too much or you’ll lose credits.
🦙 Other
Weather is weird — always 17°C but expect rain randomly. And yep, the altitude is no joke. I lost my breath just walking upstairs 💀
