🇧🇷 Exchange in Brazil, Feb 2024
🏠 Housing
I was at Share Butantã — honestly such a good pick for the price (550€). It's full of students, so I met a ton of people right away. There’s a rooftop with a pool, BBQs, a gym, and massive parties all the time. Only downside: you have to buy everything (yes, even a fork lol) 'cause the rooms come empty.
🚗 Getting to Campus
There's a metro right next to the resi that goes straight to ESPM, but if you're at Insper like me, you'll be Ubering (about 30min — normal for SP).
✈️ Travel Life
Did Rio by bus (6h), Lençóis Maranhenses, Pantanal (super underrated), Buenos Aires, and Bolivia. You can do so much if you plan right.
🎉 Social Life
It’s a party every day if you want it. The residence vibe is unbeatable. Friperies and cheap stores around too if you’re into vintage fits.
📚 Classes
Heads up: some courses are crazy hard. Go for Business Ethics, Digital Marketing, Marketing Strategy, or Global Value Chain — those are way chiller. I stacked mine Mon/Tues and had the rest of the week off 😎
🦙 Other
If you’re squeamish, skip Airbnb — a lot have cockroach issues. Residences like Share? Way safer bet.

🏠 Housing
I stayed at Uliving Pinheiros. Honestly, the spot was amazing – close to everything cool like bars and supermarkets, but yeah... a bit far from my uni. São Paulo is just massive. My resi was student-only, chill vibes, about €550/month. Everything was super easy to book online.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Tbh, it was a bit annoying. The city’s so huge it took time to get to class. I walked a lot to parties, but for uni, had to use Uber sometimes (wouldn’t recommend at night though – stay safe). But stil, choose a place based on where you'll live, not study (if you study …:)
✈️ Travel Life
I hit up Rio, the Nordeste, the desert of Lencois, Iguazu… All by bus — super long rides but SO cheap. No excuses not to travel.
🎉 Social Life
São Paulo is popping EVERY night. You can literally go out somewhere different every evening. As a guy, I was chilling walking to parties, but girls should Uber or move in groups. Trust.
📚 Classes
I worked it out to cram everything on 3 days. More time for living it up. 🙌
🦙 Other
City’s huge. Plan ahead and be street smart.

🏠 Housing
I stayed at Uliving Pinheiros. Really social, safe spot, lots of students from everywhere — but yeah, a bit pricey for Brazil (€550/month).
🚗 Getting to Campus
About 30 minutes by car to ESPM. Not super close but totally manageable if you plan your day right.
✈️ Travel Life
Best decision ever: Rio, Ubatuba, Florianopolis, Ilha Grande, Ilhabela, Cabo Frio, Salvador, Paraty, Iguacu... BUS LIFE IS REAL.
🎉 Social Life
Nights out = Beco do Batman, Amata Club, Tokyo (karaoke + funk night 💃🏼), Manakah bar (classic ESPM hangout). The city NEVER sleeps.
📚 Classes
Didn’t mention a lot but ESPM courses are chill if you plan it smart.
🦙 Other
Finding housing outside of student residences = nightmare. Go Share or Uliving and save yourself the pain.

🏠 Housing
Lived at Share Butantã. Not gonna lie, it’s a bit pricey (€500) for what you get sometimes (wifi can suck, admin is slow), but the location is good, residents are cool, and the vibe is fire.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Bit of a trek to Insper. Honestly, I stopped stressing and just Ubered when I had to.
✈️ Travel Life
Rio, Paraty, Ubatuba — all cheap to get to by bus. You can plan last minute depending on weather. Super easy.
🎉 Social Life
São Paulo nightlife is wild. Club SP, Amata — if you want chaos, you’ll find it.
📚 Classes
Supply Chain and Project Management = chill and easy to pass. Major hack.
🦙 Other
São Paulo ain't the prettiest city but the exchange life is NEXT LEVEL. Total madness.

Stayed at Uliving in Pinheiros — it's a bit pricey (700€), but they just redid the whole thing and honestly, it’s super clean and great for meeting other exchange students. Pinheiros is one of the best areas to live in: chill, safe, and full of places to eat.
🚗 Getting to Campus
Yeah... it’s not close. About 20min by car with no traffic, but more like 45min during rush hours. Classic São Paulo 😅
✈️ Travel Life
Did all the hits: Rio, Ubatuba, Ilha Grande and Lençóis. So easy to hop around, especially with buses or cheap local flights.
🎉 Social Life
Pinheiros has loads of cool bars — she dropped Manolo as a fave. Good spot for chill drinks and student vibes.
📚 Classes
Didn’t mention much, but she seemed relaxed. Main advice? Enjoy, but stay smart about safety — you’ll be fine if you’re careful.
🦙 Other
Looking for a colocation à 4? Tough in SP. Go early or stick with residences to keep it easy.
